Sorry, but I have to disagree to the statement that an update achieves the same result as an invitation. Most of the time an update gets lost in the daily information feed and is therefore often neglected. An invite, however, appears on your profile page with an icon and actually 'invites' people to have a look and react to it.Can't Facebook just restrict the number of invites, for example per day? We don't all have 5000 fans to our page, do we?
I couldnt find the button. Is it still working, the button update fans?
Thanks Diogo
Thanks Diogo
Also good to include links to the event page in status updates so the event shows up in your fans' news feeds.
Thanks to Geoff Langford from the Facebook Pages discussion board:
"Once your Event is created, you can alert all the Fans of your Page one of two ways:
1. From the Page, use "Send an Update to Fans" from the top right menu
2. From the Event, use "Update Fans of (your page)" from the top right menu
They're not technically invitations, but they achieve the same result."
Some context:
Facebook might be a bit hesitant to include a direct "invite" feature to Fan Pages, because there is no limit to the amount of people that can be fans of your page, and if it's really easy to send an invite to all 5000+ fans of your page, it might be perceived as "spam". (Facebook Groups limit the amount of members to 5000, so it has the option to invite all members of the group to an event.)
Edda Burke from the Facebook Pages discussion board adds:
"FB has recently started disabling the "message all your guests" feature if your event has more than 5,000 invitees - again supporting the idea that FB views large numbers of event invitations like spam."
